Faculty Unscripted: Brittney Frisina
Get to know MSA’s Assistant Director of Admissions, Brittney Frisina.
What are your primary roles at MSA?
Assistant Director of Admissions, Junior Class Co-Sponsor, Student Ambassador Co-Sponsor
What made you decide to work on the Hill?
The school’s mission. I was immediately drawn to its holistic approach—engaging the hands, heart, and mind through student-centered learning. I am fortunate to see this mission come to life on a daily basis.
Most memorable teaching, coaching, or student-life experience?
Witnessing a student graduate after an extremely challenging semester was incredibly special. When they returned to express their gratitude, it reminded me that what feels like “just doing my job” can mean so much more to someone else. Seeing the impact of my work on students truly means a lot.
If you were not an educator, what would you be?
I’d definitely be a Chef and/or Pastry Chef, depending on the day and my sweet tooth. I love experimenting in the kitchen, mixing seasonings like a DJ crafting a perfect playlist (though some combos hit more like a bad remix). But the real reason I cook? It’s the joy food brings to people. My favorite memories are filled with laughter, good company, and even better meals around the table. Plus, let’s be honest, being the mandatory taste tester isn’t the worst gig in the world. Cleanup, though? Let’s just say that’s where my enthusiasm runs out of seasoning!
Favorite aspect of working at a boarding school?
For me, it’s all about connecting with the students. Duty time is special—it’s when the admin hat comes off, and you get to engage with them on a more personal level. Whether it’s watching a student pour extra care into an art project or seeing two students go on their first date, these moments are so meaningful. I look forward to the day when I can share stories of past students who grew up here on the Hill, celebrating the little moments that make this place so unique.
Most memorable lesson learned from students at MSA?
As someone who’s fairly new to the MSA community, my memory bank is still growing—but one thing that stands out to me already is the incredible sense of community and family here. The students have been so welcoming, patient as I learn the ropes, and genuinely engaging. I’ve even had a few wander into my office by mistake, only to stay and strike up a conversation. It’s been such a breath of fresh air to see young adults lead with kindness and show what it means to be part of a supportive community.
Favorite place to go or thing to do on MSA’s 1,100-acre campus?
The gym. I know, I know! With over 1,100 acres of beautiful trails and views, it’s not what you’d expect me to say, but here me out - The gym has become a place where I've had the opportunity to learn more about our students. In my administrative role, I don’t always have the chance to connect with them one-on-one. However, the gym offers a unique environment where students gather for assemblies to celebrate events and share successes. It’s also where seniors open up and present their most authentic selves through speeches. Beyond that, it’s a place where students showcase their athletic talents during home games. And, the most heartwarming part is seeing how they come together to support each other—whether it’s cheering from the bleachers during games or showing up to support their peers, both day and boarding students come together to show their school spirit!
Movie you have watched the most times in your life?
I am a sucker for a good Rom-Com. But, when thinking of my most favorite movies, two tie for the top spot: Anne of Green Gables (and its sequels) and Home Alone (the original, of course). They couldn’t be more different, but both bring a special, nostalgic charm for me around the holidays. It has also been special sharing these with my son, although we get a lot less grunting when Home Alone is on - weird, right?
Dream trip?
I have always dreamt of going to Greece - The Blue Caves in Zakynthos particularly. The gorgeous blue water “calls me” (lol).
Pets?
We have an 8 year old chocolate lab - Ezekiel (Zeke). He’s a fun-loving, grumpy old boy.
What did you want to do when you grew up (when you were in high school)?
I always dreamed of being a Pediatrician. Helping people has always been at the center of my core.
